Peatmas [peetmuhsnoun – Peatmas are 12 days of the year that we take the time to learn about: 1. why peatlands, especially tropical peatlands, are important, 2. how we as consumers are driving their destruction, and 3. what simple steps we can take to make sure we keep these lands pristine and a safe neck of the woods for the animals, plants and people who call these places home.

As the song, “The 12 Days of Peatmas” goes up in number, it names 12 different  ways of thinking about peatlands, ie.  how they are  being destroyed to grow palm oil plantations,  what types of products we can find the ingredient, “palm oil” in, and how we, as responsible consumers can make sure  we do our part to make sure our buying decisions spare tropical forests and peatlands!
